Bucky, a small white bulldog puppy was brought to the sanctuary by Marion County Animal Control. He had been shot and left by the side of the road, and if taken to the Animal Center would have been euthanized because of his poor condition. Apparently Bucky had been used as a bait dog for a pit bull fighting ring, was shot and thrown into a field where he was found, still alive. All four legs were full of buckshot and it looked as if he might lose a hind leg because of his devastating injuries. Vets and friends of the sanctuary pulled together to help get Bucky well and after extensive treatment and rehab, Bucky is able to run, jump and play. Although his leg will never be completely normal, it is functional and Bucky is a happy pup and enjoys swimming and running through the woods with his pals.

Every animal at Windhorse Sanctuary has a story. We are committed to continuing this important work and welcome the continuing support of our communities in Sarasota and Ocala.
